Solid Surface Countertops

Corian & Staron. Kitchens, islands and vanities.

RD Countertops & Showers installs Corian and Staron solid surface countertops in Winters, Vacaville, Davis, Woodland, Dixon and nearby towns. Seams disappear, sinks can be built in, and owner Russell Dommer does the tear-out and install himself.

Solid surface is non-porous, never needs sealing, and scratches sand out. It's a good fit for busy kitchens, bathroom vanities and anyone tired of grout lines on a tile counter.

Seamless

Joints are bonded with matching adhesive and sanded flat, so an L-shaped counter or a long island reads as one piece.

Backsplashes can be coved into the top. Nothing to catch crumbs or water.

Integrated solid surface sink with no seam

Built-In Sinks

A solid surface sink is bonded into the countertop with no rim and no seam. Wipe straight into the bowl.

Works in kitchens and in single or double bathroom vanities.

Questions

What is solid surface?

A countertop material made from acrylic resin and mineral filler, with the color running all the way through. Corian is the original brand. Staron is a similar brand. Joints are bonded and sanded smooth, so a long counter looks like one piece.

Is solid surface good for kitchen countertops?

Yes, for everyday kitchens. It's non-porous, never needs sealing, can have a sink built in with no seam, and wipes clean with soap and water. It's softer than quartz or granite, so use a cutting board and a trivet for hot pans. Light scratches sand out.

Solid surface or quartz?

Quartz is harder and resists scratches and heat better. Solid surface gives you invisible seams, integrated sinks and repairs that disappear. Read Solid Surface vs Quartz for the full comparison.

Can you replace my countertops without replacing the cabinets?

Yes. Most jobs are a tear-out of the old top and a new one on the existing cabinets, as long as the cabinets are solid and level. We check that at the estimate.

How long does it take?

After the measure, the top is made to fit your kitchen. Installation itself usually takes a day. You'll get dates with the estimate.

How much do solid surface countertops cost?

It depends on the size of the job, the color, the edge and how many sinks or cutouts there are. Russell measures and gives you a free written estimate, usually after a short visit.

Can scratches or burns be repaired?

Yes. Because the color goes all the way through, most scratches, stains and small burns can be sanded and buffed out on site.
